Buckmxn Journal open submissions. December 6 - 20, 2021.

Buckmxn Journal, recipient of an Independent Book Publisher Award, is an art and literature anthology featuring Oregon and SW Washington's finest talent. A strikingly visual production presented in paperback, Buckmxn Journal aims to capture society as it is now, thus becoming a testament for future generations. It is available at all respectable bookstores across the globe. 

Please send us your preferably unpublished works of fiction or creative non-fiction. All writing styles are welcome if the resulting prose takes the reader on a ride, acknowledging that entertaining the reader is one goal of the writer. Technically there is no word limit. A story uses as many words it needs. However, anything above 5000 words will face an uphill battle. 

Base payment for authors begins at $100.00 (for unpublished submissions), often more for longer pieces. Each author may submit one story at a time but can submit another if the first story is not accepted. All published authors receive a free copy.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted if it is noted in the cover letter. Please withdraw any stories accepted elsewhere immediately by e-mailing: stories@buckmanpublishing.com with the subject line: Story Submission Withdrawal.

Buckmxn Journal reserves global print rights, with the rights reverting to the author after the initial publication date. Previously published stories are considered at a lower payment rate and, if accepted, will be offered a reprint rights contract. If the submission has been previously published, be sure to note this in your cover letter.

Buckmxn Journal is open to Oregon and SW Washington residents only. Submissions from outside the region will go unread.

Please submit .docx or .pdf files only, use a readable font and be sure to use the following formatting conventions: Double spaced, all pages numbered, with the author's name and total word count listed below the title. If submitting multiple stories, each should be uploaded as a separate document.

We are a small operation so we cannot guarantee a fixed turnaround time, just know that we will energetically read and respond to submissions as soon as we are able.
