Dear writers seeking to see their work in Buckman:

Currently, Buckman does not accept unsolicited submissions. Instead, the editors at Buckmxn Journal scout for local artists and writers instead of sifting mountains of unsolicited submissions. If you want to get noticed by Buck, join in on community events and expect that our crew will be in the crowd at readings, art shows, and paying close attention to creative happenings in and around Portland.

That said, we are fully aware that despite our earnest scouting, we may have missed great and emerging talent. Thus, Buckmxn Journal offers a brief open call period for fiction and non-fiction submissions twice a year. We also award an annual Poetry Prize with a cash award and publication in a future issue of Buckmxn Journal. We also have plans for a full-length book manuscript reading period later this year.

Please note that we are a regionally focused publication primarily publishing residents of Oregon.
